The Next Mile Initiative is a pioneering social enterprise dedicated to breaking down transportation barriers for women survivors of gender-based violence in Pittsburgh. We ensure every ride is safe, trauma-informed, and driven by women—many of whom are survivors themselves—creating a caring connection from door to destination.
Our dual mission both empowers survivors to access critical resources such as court hearings, job interviews, and medical appointments, and provides dignified employment for our women drivers. We envision a future where every survivor has the support she needs to reclaim independence and thrive.
We offer trauma-informed, women-driven transportation for survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, human trafficking, and stalking, helping them reach court dates, interviews, medical care, and more.

Compassionate, confidential rides for survivors to vital appointments, court hearings, interviews, and services—ensuring safety and dignity throughout the journey.

Our drivers are women, many of whom have their own lived experience of survival, creating supportive employment and peer empathy behind the wheel.

Each ride removes logistical obstacles, directly supporting survivors in accessing justice, health care, or opportunity when it matters most.

Our mission is to empower women survivors of gender-based violence by providing safe, trauma-informed, and supportive transportation. Through each ride, we remove barriers that hinder access to justice, employment, or healthcare, while creating meaningful work for women drivers. We strive to foster independence, dignity, and opportunity for every woman we serve.
